The right size for two large coffee mugs and does an amazing job, although it is not the most expensive on the market. I could easily get a third large cup, but I would have to fill it with water above the safety valve. As some have noticed, the plastic handle seems quite miserable for a moka of this size and volume. After pouring into the cup, coffee collects on the inside of the lid. When the lid is lifted, it drains outside the pot. It’s a really bad design element, but not significant enough to worry about.

The recommended maintenance schedule for your Gruenwerg ECM-09 coffee machine involves periodic cleaning, descaling, and replacing parts to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Here's a breakdown of the maintenance tasks you should follow:

1. Daily Maintenance:
- Clean the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth or mild detergent solution.

- Remove and clean the drip tray, ensuring it is dry before reinstalling.

2. Weekly Maintenance:
- Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth or mild detergent solution as needed.
- Clean the water reservoir by rinsing it thoroughly under running water.
- Inspect and clean the coffee grinder to prevent buildup of grounds or debris.
- Run a cycle using only water (without coffee grounds) to flush out any residue from the previous use.

3. Monthly Maintenance:
- Descale your ECM-09 coffee machine according to manufacturer's guidelines. This typically involves running a descaling solution through the machine, which is available for purchase separately or included with some maintenance kits.
- Inspect and clean the brew group (where hot water and ground coffee mix). Remove any residue or buildup that may affect the taste of your coffee.
- Replace the water filter if it's due for replacement, usually every 6 months or as recommended by the manufacturer.

4. Annual Maintenance:
- Inspect all seals and gaskets for wear and tear. Replace them if necessary to prevent leaks or malfunctions.
- Clean the steam wand and milk frother by running warm water through them, then wipe down with a clean cloth.
- Test the machine's safety features, such as overheat protection and automatic shut-off, to ensure they are functioning properly.
