1 review for Grunwerg ECM-09

  1. P. Harper

The right size for two large coffee mugs and does an amazing job, although it is not the most expensive on the market. I could easily get a third large cup, but I would have to fill it with water above the safety valve. As some have noticed, the plastic handle seems quite miserable for a moka of this size and volume. After pouring into the cup, coffee collects on the inside of the lid. When the lid is lifted, it drains outside the pot. It’s a really bad design element, but not significant enough to worry about.

"How do I properly clean the showerhead on my Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator?"

To properly clean the showerhead on your Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator, you will need white vinegar and a small plastic bag. First, remove the showerhead from the percolator by turning it counterclockwise. Next, fill the plastic bag with enough white vinegar to completely cover the showerhead's interior. Secure the bag over the showerhead with a rubber band or twist tie. Allow the vinegar to soak for at least four hours, or overnight if possible. The acids in the vinegar will help to dissolve any mineral buildup inside the showerhead. After soaking, remove the bag and rinse the showerhead thoroughly with water. Reattach the showerhead to the percolator and run a pot of water through it to ensure all vinegar is removed. Your Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator's showerhead is now clean and ready for use.

How do I properly clean and maintain my Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator to ensure optimal performance?

To ensure optimal performance of your Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator, it's essential to clean and maintain it regularly. Here's a step-by-step guide to help you:

1. Disassemble the Percolator:
Remove the filter basket, plunger, lid, and any other removable parts of your Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator. Wash each part under running water to remove any coffee grounds or residue. Clean the Filter Basket:
Use a soft brush, such as an old toothbrush, to clean the filter basket thoroughly. Rinse it in warm soapy water and then rinse again with plain water. Make sure that all the tiny holes are clear of any debris, as these can affect the performance of your percolator. Clean the Plunger:
Clean the plunger's base, which is where the filter basket sits, under running water to remove any coffee grounds or residue. Rinse it thoroughly with hot soapy water and then rinse again with plain water. Make sure that the plunger is completely dry before inserting it back into the percolator. Clean the Carafe:
Remove any remaining coffee grounds from the carafe by running hot water through it. If there are stubborn stains, mix equal parts baking soda and water to make a paste, then apply it to the inside of the carafe. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm soapy water and then plain water. Clean the Lid:
Wash the lid under running water to remove any coffee residue. If there are stubborn stains, mix equal parts baking soda and water to make a paste, then apply it to the inside of the lid. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with warm soapy water and then plain water. Clean the Base:
Use a soft cloth or sponge to clean the base of your Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator. Wipe it down with a damp cloth and then dry it completely before placing the carafe back on the base. Dry all Parts:
Make sure that all parts, including the filter basket, plunger, lid, and carafe, are completely dry before reassembling your Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator. Any moisture left behind can lead to mold or bacterial growth. Store Properly:
Store your Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator in a cool, dry place, preferably in a cupboard or pantry where it's protected from sunlight and heat. This will help prevent damage to the parts and ensure optimal performance when you're ready to use it again.

How do I properly clean and maintain my Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator to ensure optimal performance and prevent damage?

To clean and maintain your Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator, follow these steps:

1. After each use, rinse the filter basket and percolator arm with hot water to remove any remaining coffee grounds and residue. Once a week, fill the percolator with equal parts of white vinegar and water. Run the machine through a brewing cycle as you would normally. This will help remove any mineral buildup that may have accumulated inside the machine. After rinsing out the vinegar solution, run several cycles with fresh water to remove any remaining vinegar taste. Clean the exterior of the percolator with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or steel wool, as these can scratch the surface of the machine. Store your Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Regularly check the seals around the lid and filter basket to ensure they are still tight and secure. Replace any worn or damaged seals as needed. If you notice any leaks, drips, or other issues with your percolator, contact Grunwerg customer service for assistance. Do not attempt to repair the machine yourself, as this could result in further damage. By following these cleaning and maintenance tips, you can help ensure that your Grunwerg ECM-09 percolator continues to operate at peak performance for years to come.
